UK and Ireland customs FAQs: quick answers to common questions
Our UK&I customs FAQs library is designed to help you find quick solutions anytime and covers the most common questions about Langdon’s systems and HMRC customs and excise requirements, from authorisations to declarations.
There are two simple routes to request access, depending on availability within your organisation:
1. Via Your Super User (Preferred Route)
Your organisation’s nominated Super Users can create new users directly within the system. They can set up the account and generate the initial password, enabling immediate access.
2. Via the Langdon Service Desk
If your Super User is unavailable, you can request access by:
- Raising a ticket via the JIRA Help Desk, or
- Emailing the Service Desk at servicedesk@langdoncustoms.com
Our team will create the account and confirm access details once completed.
If a declaration is rejected, the issue can be reviewed within the Errors tab of the declaration record. This section provides:
- The CDS rejection code
- A DMS plain-language explanation identifying the specific CDS data element causing the error
Once identified, amend the relevant data field and resubmit the declaration.
If you require further guidance, our Service Desk team is on hand to support you at servicedesk@langdoncustoms.com.
Yes. Langdon DMS is fully integration-agnostic, meaning it can connect with any WMS or ERP platform used within your business.
We provide a comprehensive interface specification available in CSV, XML or ASCII.dat formats, and can also support dedicated API integrations where preferred.
To ensure a seamless implementation, your dedicated Implementation Manager will lead an interface scoping session with you and your IT partners. This ensures we fully understand your system landscape, data structure and integration objectives before development begins.
Our team will then guide you through the integration process end-to-end, ensuring secure, accurate and reliable data flow across your systems.
If a customs authorisation has expired or been revoked, CDS will return a rejection message confirming the affected authorisation and preventing the declaration from proceeding.
In this instance, you can contact customsauthorisations@hmrc.gov.uk, who will explain the reason for removal and advise on next steps.
When enrolled in CDS, you are also issued a dedicated CDS token. The Langdon application continuously monitors token validity and provides advance notification when renewal is required, alongside clear guidance on how to complete the process.
If you need support reviewing an authorisation issue or interpreting a CDS rejection, our Service Desk team is always available to assist.
