In 2024, Adena Limited – parent company of Monsoon, Accessorize, and EAST – set out to establish a bonded warehouse in the UK as part of a major strategic shift.
The move was designed to strengthen duty management, improve cash flow, and unlock significant savings on exports.
A leading Customs Consultancy, having helped Adena build the business case, recommended Langdon Customs & Excise Solutions to deliver the technology and expertise required.
The Challenge
Adena needed a bonded warehouse solution capable of handling high customs volumes with speed, accuracy, and full compliance – all while reducing costs. That’s where Langdon came in.
Our Approach
We developed a tailored commercial proposal showing how our Duty Management System (DMS) could:
- Automate and simplify customs processes for maximum efficiency
- Handle duty payments via deferment to improve cash flow
- Scale to handle 1.8–2 million declarations annually
This clear vision, backed by concrete projections, secured Adena’s decision to partner with Langdon for their bonded warehouse and customs automation.
Building the Solution
From the beginning, we worked hand-in-hand with Adena’s logistics teams and stakeholders to produce a detailed Business Requirements Document (BRD), ensuring every integration, functional, and operational need was captured.
Collaboration with Modern Logic, Adena’s WMS integration partner, enabled a seamless link between our DMS and Adena’s Blue Yonder (Dispatcher) system – ensuring perfect data flow across goods receipt, movement, and customs reporting.
Proof of Concept & Go-Live
A two-week parallel run tested every aspect of the operation, from data accuracy to reporting and workflows. The result? A confident green light for go-live.
The bonded warehouse launched smoothly, backed by a comprehensive hypercare phase with on-site support, user training, and system fine-tuning to ensure compliance and confidence from day one.
Beyond Launch: Kitting Project
Our partnership didn’t stop at go-live. Insights from regular business reviews led to the development of kitting functionality within the DMS, enabling duty-efficient assembly of product kits inside the bonded warehouse, further boosting operational value.
The Results
Adena now runs a high-volume bonded warehouse powered by Langdon’s DMS, achieving:
Significant duty and cash flow savings
Streamlined, automated customs processes
A scalable platform that evolves with their business
This project is a clear example of how Langdon partners with large-scale retailers to solve complex customs challenges, delivering lasting value through expertise, innovation, and collaboration.
